Dakin Henderson rolled into Paonia last fall freshly re-located from Boston, Massachusetts to pursue his dream of living in the Rockies and starting his career as an independent documentary filmmaker.
With a background as an award-winning filmmaker, cinematographer, and editor, he started his own production company, Lost Cabin Productions.
His plan to work from home, coffee shops, and the library in Paonia turned out to be less than ideal, so he started seeking more permanent workspace. A few weeks after arriving, he set up shop in the Hive’s Colony room with his lofty iMac computer and was making connections all over town. Not much later, he joined the Hive Host Team. He now greets workerbees and visitors at the front desk on Friday afternoons.

Dakin is also stepping up to create access to quality large-format printing in Paonia. In the next few months he’ll be taking on the role of “Printing Bee” at the Hive, managing the use of a new wide format printer we recently acquired so that our members and community can print large posters, flyers, etc. in house.
Outside of work, Dakin can be found riding his bicycle around town, eating, and playing music with Brodie Kinder & the Killer Bees — a recently formed local band composed almost entirely of Hive Members.
After consulting Hive social media guru Heidi Hudek, Dakin has just launched a Facebook page for Lost Cabin Productions. ‘Like’ his page to stay up to date with his projects, all things video in Paonia.
